State Representative-Elect Mary Gonzalez Assembles Top Notch Team for Legislative Office 

(El Paso,TX) – Mary Gonzalez, who just won the open HD-75 seat in easternEl PasoCounty, is moving fast to build an experienced and energetic legislative team for the upcoming 83rd Legislative Session in Austin.  At the top of the roster Roger Garza has been named as Gonzalez’s Chief-of-Staff.

Garza is an experienced and respected operative who has previously served as the Executive Director of the House Democratic Caucus, at the Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee, and as Chief-of-Staff for Rep. Joe Farias of San Antonio.

“I promised the voters in our community that I would be tireless and aggressive in fighting for our shared values and I have put together a team that has the experience and energy to make sure we keep that promise,” said Rep-Elect Gonzalez. 

Here inEl Paso, Arlina Palacios will serve as Gonzalez’ District Aide and will manage an office in Socorro that will be available for any constituent to visit for assistance. Palacios is a native of Fabens and a graduate of theUniversityofTexasatEl Paso.

Also serving in the Capitol office will be Victor Reyes. A native El Paso, Reyes will serve as Legislative Director managing Gonzalez's legislative agenda.

Reyes, a graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word, has previously worked for Congressman Charlie Gonzalez, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and MALDEF. 

“The last legislative session resulted in deep cuts to education, health care and basic services for our community that should have been avoided. I am ready to fight to reverse as much of these cuts as possible. With this talented team behind me I know we will be taken seriously and heard loud and clear,” said Gonzalez

 Rep-elect Mary Gonzalez represents House District 75, which includes parts of El Paso, Socorro, Horizon City, San Elizario, Clint, Tornillo, and Fabens. She will be sworn into office on the first day of the Legislative Session in Austin on January 8, 2013.
